Gray's Reef National Marine Sanctuary
Interning with the Gray's Reef National Marine Sanctuary was an excellent learning experience. Gray's Reef National Marine Sanctuary is one of the largest near-shore live-bottom reefs of the southeastern United States. It's just one of the 14 national marine protected areas that make up the National Marine Sanctuary System and is governed by the National Marine Sanctuaries Act. It is managed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
I conducted a social science experiment with the BLUE Ocean Film Festival. I was in charge of designing a survey instrument that inquired on participants views of the festival and ways to increase participation. I was able to not only network at the film festival, but also view a lot of award winning films in this field of study. This was a great experience and with the data I collected, the organizers were able to use the information to better recruit more individuals in the future!
