Moses Jackson Advancement Center
I served at the Moses Jackson Advancement Center as an undergraduate fellow through a grant given by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The Center provides academic support, financial literacy and entrepreneurial training, health and nutrition classes and other services to assist families with moving out of poverty.
This was a very humbling experience for myself and allowed me to gain experience in working with an entity of the local and national government. The project that I enjoyed the most from this experience was being able to reach out to local businesses which allowed the students to tour the Savannah Bee Company. This field trip that I coordinated not only taught them about the business of producing and manufacturing honey, but also the importance of being an entrepreneur in their community.
